HHS UIL Academic Team Wins STATE

The Holliday High School Academic team won the State 2A University Interscholastic League contest that took place May 25 and 26, at the University of Texas in Austin. The One Act Play, also a part of the team performed May 27 and 28. Holliday’s score was 160 points with second place Caddo Mills scoring 109.5. This is the first Academic State Championship for Holliday High School. On their way to the state meet, Holliday won the District 5-2A meet and the Region 1-2A meet in Odessa. Twenty-six Holliday High School students qualified for the state UIL meet. The coaches who had students competing at the state meet were Shawn Duthie, Susan Scarbrough, Cyndy Struck, Peggy Wallace, and Ron Wilson. Below are the students who placed at the meet:

Since 1958 Holliday High School has won the District Academic contest twenty-five times, earning Regional Championships in 1993, 2004, 2005, 2006, a second at regional in 2008, and winning regional again in 2009. In 2006, Holliday High School placed second at the state meet.
