Patriot’s Pen Youth Essay winners

The Patriot’s Pen youth essay competition is for students in grades 6-8. This competition is designed to encourage young minds to examine America’s history, along with their own experiences in modern American society by composing a 300 to 400-word patriotic-themed essay. The theme for the 2017-18 competition is “America’s Gift to My Generation.” Students begin by competing at the local Post 2676 level where they can earn scholarship money in the amounts of $150 for 1st Place, $75 for 2nd and $50 for 3rd. Post winners advance to District competition with District winners advancing to the state competition. State first-place winners compete for their share of thousands of dollars in awards, and the national first-place winner is awarded $5000 and an all-expense- paid trip to Washington D.C. for the winner and a parent or guardian. The Holliday Middle School students placing were:

Caroline Case  1st  - $150.00 in scholarship award  and  Advancement to State competition.

Katie Lamb 2nd -  $75.00 in scholarship award 

Nikki Stancik  3rd $50.00 in scholarship award
