Holliday ISD has designated tornado shelters capable of housing all district students and staff.
When a “TORNADO WARNING” is issued by the National Weather Service for Northern Archer County including the City of Holliday all students and staff will be securely locked in the tornado shelters. District personnel will not be available to answer phones or admit people into the building. Parents will not be able to pick up their students once they have entered the tornado shelters. Once the warning has been lifted regular school day procedures will resume. In the event of damage to the school parents will receive information from the district alert system notifying them of the reunification site and check out procedures.
As a District the safety of our students and staff is our number one priority.
Holliday ISD will use the following procedure to determine school closings, late starts and early releases due to weather.
- District personnel will drive bus routes and major highways before 5:30 a.m.
- District personnel will consult with the National Weather Service, TxDot and State and Local Law Enforcement for the latest road information and weather forecast.
- If it is a determined that a late start or school closure is warranted our goal is to inform parents and staff by 6:00 a.m. If there is an early release due to weather parents will be notified as soon as possible.
- Holliday ISD will post late start or school closure information by 6:00 a.m. on the district website, direct email and text to parents, Twitter, Facebook and local news media.
