Student Athlete Drug Testing Guidelines

The Holliday ISD Board of Trustees approved a student drug testing program beginning this Fall for grade 9-12 students who participate in athletics.

The program includes mandatory testing of all athletes prior to the beginning of the season and random testing during the school year. The intent of the program is not to punish students but to provide a deterrent to illegal drug use.

We have scheduled two opportunities for parents and students to attend informational meetings and for students to baseline drug test. All athletes must participate in baseline testing including athletes who are in off-season for other sports.

The first informational meeting will be Thursday July 25th at 7:00 p.m. in the HS Auditorium. Baseline drug testing for student athletes will occur the following day, Friday July 26th at 8:00 a.m. at the Fieldhouse.

The second informational meeting will be Thursday August 1st at 7:00 p.m. in the HS Auditorium. Baseline drug testing for student athletes will occur the following day, Friday August 2nd at 8:00 a.m. at the Fieldhouse.

Male and female athletes will be in separate areas of the fieldhouse and the testing (sample collection) will be conducted by male and female technicians.

At the informational meetings we will discuss the: dangers of illegal drug use, policy, procedure, medication issues and answer questions pertaining to implementation of the policy.
