UIL Literary Criticism

In Literary Criticism, we take literature to the next level. 

If you love to read and think deeply about those works of literature, Literary Criticism might be the UIL event for you!

Each year, along with an intense study of literary terms, periods, & prize winners (all contained in The Handbook of Literature), the team studies a novel, a play, and a poet that the UIL Literary Criticism state director selects.  In 2018-2019, the team is studying the following works:

The Holliday High School UIL Literary Criticism team has been quite successful over the past few years:

2019  – State Qualifiers, Regional Champs, District Champs

2018 – Team 4th at the State Meet, Regional Champs, District Champs. 

2017 - 3A State Champs, Regional Champs, District Champs

2016 – 2nd @ Region, District Champs

2015 – 3A State Champs, Regional Champs, District Champs
