The newest event in UIL Academics, Copy Editing is a great event for students who love correcting grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc.  The event falls under the Journalism contest umbrella, so it uses the rules of the Associated Press (AP) Stylebook.  

Copy Editing contains three sections that must be completed in 15 minutes total:  

• Part 1 –  Each contestant selects the correct answer from the choices given – 15 questions.
• Part 2 –  Each contestant identifies four errors in each of the five sentences.
• Part 3 – Tie Breaker – Each student edits an article using identifiable copy editing marks.
